AZEB GRAY
returns to the Center for her 15th year to work with
our morning and afternoon children. She became interested in
Montessori educational philosophy when her daughter was a
student here. Azeb completed her preprimary certification
through the American Montessori Society. Her beautiful smile and
gentle ways make her equally popular with children, parents and
staff. Fluent in French, Azeb, who also has her Child
Development Associate credential and her Early Childhood
Credential, just received her Associate’s Degree in education
from Rockland Community College. She is moving on to the State
University College in Purchase this September to further her
studie |

Shanaz Shaheen
received her teaching certification for primary aged
children (2 ½ - 7 years) from the Association Montessori
International in Sri Lanka, where she subsequently worked at the
Crescent and the Melbourne International schools. After
immigrating to the USA, Shanaz became interested in our youngest
students and attended the Center for Montessori Teacher
Education at New Rochelle, where she obtained comprehensive
specialized training for dealing with toddlers. With more than
10 years at the Montessori Center of Nyack, she is very excited
about returning to work with our morning and afternoon students,
many of whom she knew as toddlers. |

MARÍA ELENA TORRES is a graduate of Lehman College with
a major in psychology and a minor in education. She loves
working with our children and never has a cross word for either
staff or students.
Elena completed her
Montessori early childhood certification
at the Center for Montessori Teacher Education at the College of
New Rochelle. Bilingual, she provides Spanish language lessons
for our full-day children and leads them in our
weekly
Spanish immersion
day.
Elena is
also
a skilled seamstress and famous for her sewing projects. |

PATTY
RICHARDS
joins us mid-day as a directress in the afternoon session Montessori
classroom and as lead teacher for our Universal Pre-Kindergarten
program. Patty has an extensive background in all aspects of visual and
performing arts, including design, illustration, dance, voice, and
acting. Her experience as a musical comedy performer and as the mother
of three grown children helps her survive in nearly all situations!
Patty is a graduate of the School of Visual Arts and Marymount College,
where she majored in studio art. She has worked extensively with
preschoolers years and is certified by the Center for Montessori Teacher
Education. |

BEATRIX STEFAN has been working at the
Montessori Center for over three years. In addition to being the
mother of an active two-year-old, Beatrix is currently studying
for her Child Development Associates credential at Rockland
Community College. A former preschool teacher in her native
Hungary, she is very artistic and loves designing projects for
her students. Beatrix is noted for her gentle way with children,
so this makes her an ideal teaching assistant. Beatrix will be
working with the AM class and the moving to the full-day program
in the afternoon. |
