DHARANI G. NARASIMHAN came to the Montessori
Center of Nyack in 2001. She is a graduate of Bangalore University and
an AMI certified Montessori teacher. While she was in India, Dharani
owned and managed her own school. Her mother and sister are also trained
Montessori teachers, so her familiarity with the philosophy extends
beyond her immediate formal experience. Dharani completed a combined
Masters in regular and special education at the College of New Rochelle
and, having passed all of the required examinations, is awaiting her
permanent NYS teaching certification. She brings patience, dedication,
and creativity to her position of directress and is also the supervising
teacher of the Universal Prekindergarten program at the Montessori
Center of Nyack.
MARÍA McNENNEY studied sociology and psychology at Manhattan College
and worked as a translator for unionized companies before joining us in
1998. She became interested in Montessori educational philosophy when
her daughter was a student here. María completed her preprimary
certification through the American Montessori Society. Bilingual, she
provides Spanish language lessons for our full-day children and leads
them in our weekly Spanish immersion day.
MELISSA DOLPHIN had already spent three years
working in a neighboring Montessori school when she joined us in January
as a long-term substitute teacher. She is a graduate of the State
University College at Cortland, NY where she majored in education and
has a Masters in instructional technology from the American
Intercontinental University. Melissa is a permanently certified NYS
teacher. It’s a great help to our Spanish program that she spent two
summers in Madrid at the Universidad Complutense. Melissa will be
assisting in our kindergarten program at the River School in the
afternoon.
